Wyatt, we understand how our recommendation for four tires can be concerning. In vehicles with all-wheel-drive systems, the differential and the computer work together to send the right amount of torque to each wheel to minimize slippage and maximize control. If one of the tires is a different size than the others -- because three tires are worn/old and one is new -- the computer will likely take an incorrect reading and the differential will then have to work too hard. Driving this way long enough can burn out your vehicle's drivetrain. Since that is a far costlier problem, we recommended getting the four tires. Because our main lot has limited space, we moved your vehicle to our overflow parking area across the street — not to drive it around, but simply to keep our lot clear so we could work through jobs as efficiently as possible. We understand how that may have caused confusion when you didn’t see your vehicle parked out front. This is a situation we see often, and in such cases we follow industry safety standards to ensure our customers stay safe on the road. In addition, we understand there were concerns raised about something missing from their vehicle. We thoroughly reviewed our camera footage and did not find any suspicious activity while the vehicle was in our care. Since the overflow parking lot across the street does not have cameras, we cannot confirm what may have happened while it was parked there, but we took the concern seriously. We offered multiple solutions and compensation at the time, though they were declined. It is always our intention to resolve any issues fully and fairly, and we regret that concerns like this arose. Typically, we do not fix tires when the damage is that close to the edge, for fear that the tire patch will fail and leave you stranded or worse.
